Michael, Michelle, and Family
Michael and Michelle went through Habitat for Humanity of Hamilton County’s Spring 2014 partner family selection cohort. Michelle says that there were a lot of families at the application session and she and her family feel lucky and are excited to have been chosen. In the past they worked hard to improve their credit, which is part of the selection criteria. To have been chosen as a partner family is a big deal for Michael and Michelle, because they have a growing family of four children and one on the way! The family is in need of more space. They currently reside in a small home, and aren’t able to sit down at the same table to have family dinner. This used to be an important time to come together as a family, discuss their day, and talk about upcoming family events. Now Michael and Michelle eat in the living room, and the children eat in the kitchen. Michelle’s father plans to build them a farm-style dining room table, and the family can’t wait to have a large enough dining room to sit down and eat dinner together.
Mason, the youngest, has special needs and has trouble getting around, so the family also needed a larger lot for a home that can accommodate a handicap-accessible floorplan. Michelle and Michael are eager to have a space large enough for the family and easier for Mason to navigate. Michael and Michelle just selected their lot in Arcadia, and the large lot across from the school is a spacious and safe location. We can’t wait to start building a special home for this special family, and we’re looking forward to working with our volunteers and build partners!
